NoticeBored email problems

What to do if we seem to be ignoring your emails

If you have tried to contact us by email and we appear to be ignoring you, please accept our apologies and try again - or phone us on +64 634 22922 (during New Zealand daytime please!). Due to sporadic problems with the email infrastructure, inbound emails are often delayed and sometimes mysteriously disappear, lost forever in a puff of logic. Sometimes legitimate emails are inadvertently trapped in our ninja spam filters. If we are not expecting to hear from you, we will probably not know if your message never arrives unless you try again, perhaps using a different email From: address, or call us.

About spam that appears to originate from IsecT or NoticeBored

First of all, let’s get one thing absolutely straight. We are information security professionals not spammers. We never send unsolicited bulk emails, even for very small values of “bulk”. We neither condone nor support spam. Except where necessary to deliver our services (for example sending our monthly email newsletters to people who have explicitly asked to be added to the distribution list and confirmed their details, the double-opt-in), we do not give, sell, lend or leak our customers’ or other contacts’ details to others, especially spammers. Through our security awareness materials, we aim to help our customers fight the rising tide of spam. In short, we utterly detest spam!

However, spammers occasionally forge our email addresses in their From: lines. If you receive spam that appears to have been sent from an IsecT or NoticeBored account, it is most likely the result of a spammer, a worm or a system in a bot-net, deliberately changing the “From” parameter. We occasionally receive a spate of delivery failure messages for emails that we did not send, indicating that our email addresses are being abused - but in truth it is nothing to do with us and, unfortunately, there is nothing further we can do about it.

We take certain measures to protect our email addresses but we are caught in a classic dilemma: whilst ideally we would like to keep our email addresses relatively secret, it is important that customers, prospective customers and business partners can email us which means publishing our addresses.
