Using NoticeBored

How would I actually use NoticeBored?

With a stream of high quality content available on tap, running a best practice security awareness program is no longer such a chore.  NoticeBored releases you from the burden of preparing relevant, topical and high-quality awareness materials so you can concentrate on the most important part: interacting with your fellow employees and building your security culture.

NoticeBored materials are delivered electronically through the Internet.  Each month, you simply download the latest awareness module from our server.  The exact content of each specific module depends on the topic but typically comprises around 20-30 files per month - this truly is rich content!

Unsolicited endorsement from a happy NoticeBored customer
It is entirely up to you how you use the NoticeBored materials for your internal awareness program.  You probably won’t be using them all, at least not initially but as your program matures, you will probably start to draw on more.

The awareness materials we provide are “camera ready” - complete documents with good spelling and proper grammar, consistent use of headings and other styles, and above all a professional, high-quality look and feel.   Check the samples or ask us for an evaluation module to see for yourself.

We provide editable materials, recognizing that a little customization and adaptation may be in order such as updating the contact details for your IT, Information Security or Help/Service Desk functions.  You may like to blend-in some of your existing awareness materials too and perhaps refer to security incidents that have happened within your organization or locality.  Alternatively, you may choose to cut-and-paste the NoticeBored content into other employee communications, training materials, newsletters, LMS etc

NoticeBored definitely hits the mark with the reader

Next comes the fun part - actually delivering the awareness messages to employees.  One of the regular monthly deliverables is an ‘awareness activities’ paper suggesting creative security awareness/internal communications ideas relating to the topic in hand.  It also encourages you to contact other parts of the organization with common interests to share the load.

You may prefer to circulate NoticeBored materials by email (e.g. staff and technical briefing papers and policies), on paper (posters, mind maps, leaflets, desk-drops etc.), in person (stand-up presentations or seminars, case-study workshops and, yes, actually interacting with real people!) or online through the Security Zone on your intranet.  Face-to-face seminars, presentations and training sessions are generally the most effective methods but busy Information Security Managers seldom have time to research and prepare the seminar slides.  We provide three sets of security awareness seminar slides per module (aimed at staff, managers and technical staff respectively), with attractive graphics and proper detailed speaker notes, all supported by briefing materials suitable for use as handouts etc.  Apart from us actually standing up there presenting to your employees, it’s hard to think of anything else we could do for you!

NoticeBored complements ordinary Learning Management Systems by providing fresh, up-to-date training  materials and tests that either can be integrated into the LMS simply by cutting-and-pasting or provided separately to students, extending the learning experience beyond the screen.  This includes tests and exercises (such as case studies) that generate worthwhile security awareness metrics.

If you have read this far, you are probably have a reasonable idea of how NoticeBored can help you but what about the alternatives?
